‘Art does not reproduce what we see. It makes us see.’ Paul Klee
WORDS – thoughts, inspirations, imagining, reflections.
The Trace of Being and Defender Series motifs are created to honour the lives and memory of mothers and women universally. Broadly, these artworks raise issues and are visualisations that concern women, life, chaos, endurance, equality, beauty, strength and love. The works present my response to an ongoing exploration of temporality and change but ultimately reveal that time is precious, infinite love and strength can and do endure to infiltrate and balance one’s being. Interpretation is open to the viewer.

Suicide catastrophically ended my mother’s life in 1971. She was 38 years old. It happened only days before she was due to give birth to her eleventh child. A double tragedy. Sadly, her death followed years of physical and psychological abuse. Currently this type of abuse is known as domestic violence.
